以全花蓮的寺廟建築而言，鳳林壽天宮是僅次花蓮市城隍廟而維持原貌的一座。 壽天宮是座大眾化的廟宇，客、閩或佛、道、侕教信徒在此都可得到慰藉。壽天宮扮演著傳統寺廟功能情豐富的角色，民眾在此交流情感、獲取生活經驗、娛樂……，並提供急難救助、獎學金等公益服務，為當地居民的信仰中心和心靈求助之所．
